Formed in the fall of 2009, four veterans of the Old Town School of Folk Music's Wilco
Ensemble were looking for a new drummer. Former happy hunting/Blatant Dissent
drummer Dave Fishman was looking to find a band after a twenty year hiatus. The
foursome of Phil Golucki (ex. Wonderful Flying Machines)
and David Buchanan (ex. Fetus Boys) on guitar and vocals, Jeff Gantwerker (Shark Matter) on bass/vocals,
and Stephanie Reynolds on keyboards, mandolin, percussion and background vocals met
Dave after he responded to a Craig's List ad "looking for a drummer/Must love Wilco."
After a few short rehearsals, Dave was asked to join full time. The Jameson's Irish
Whiskey flowed and "Whiskey Talking" was born.
Golucki, Gantwerker and Buchanan contribute writing credits for Whiskey Talking's
songs, a growing repertoire heavily influenced by Uncle Tupelo, Wilco and the Old 97's.
The band continues to work on new material constantly and has been playing shows in
Chicago for the past two years.
